Increasing Our Self Awareness

We can all experience the “collective unconscious state” easily

In my work as a therapist, my clients frequently ask me about the “Collective Unconscious” state and whether or not it really exists.  Just to explain what that is, the collective unconscious state was a concept introduced by the psychologist CG Jung, who recognised that it is responsible for deep seated beliefs and instincts such as spiritual awareness, which are genetically inherited and do not come from personal experience.  It is a source of wisdom common to all living things.

For Jung, the collective unconscious was a reality upon which he based much of his work, and I too, from my experience as a therapist know that it exists.  I have seen it myself in my own life and my work as well.  In the “Twelve Steps” Program that Jung set up to help people with addictive disorders, there is a Higher Power which is active in everyone’s life but which one needs to discover and be made aware of.  The more one puts one’s attention on this Energy, the more it manifests in our life.  In group work with addicts, this higher power has a healing and transformative quality.

I can also associate this Power with the Ancient Energy called kundalini which Jung had also rediscovered when he attained his Individuation, his encounter with the Self that we can also call “Inner Awakening” leading to “Self-Realisation”.  Now, this was only reached by a few seekers of Spirituality in the past has been made possible by a great Personality who passed away in 2011, and was able to trigger the activation of this Kundalini Energy ‘En masse’!

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi facilitated the global possibility to tap in one’s own Self Knowledge by giving the connections to the Unconscious through awakening of the Kundalini.  She came, in her own words: “To give a mouth to the Unconscious”.  Thus, integrating all the Ancient Knowledge from the Vedas to Socrates and Kant, all the Religions, like Hinduism, Muslim, Christianity etc…  because at the Essence of all these is ‘Moksha’, Liberation!  At an individual level, when this Kundalini Energy is awakened in oneself, one enters the Flow of the Great River leading to the Ocean where there is Pure Knowledge, Truth and Joy:  Sat, Chit, Ananda.  And one is able to feel Synchronicity in one’s life, the “Leela” of the Divine Play, now available to all the seekers of Truth!

Recently, I was reflecting on the converging elements and trends: You cannot separately treat, physical, mental, emotional or spiritual parts of the body:  They interact intimately; hence what you eat has a great impact as to how you will feel.  The balance of hormones regulates your moods.  Ancient medicine had a wider wholesome perspective, much deeper than modern medicine and we are going back to it, combined with modern technology.  On a psychological level, the role of the mother is paramount at all levels in the development of the child:  A secure attachment versus insecure will determine the growth/wellbeing of the child.  It is all about love and care!

The mother doesn’t need to be perfect, but she needs to be ‘good enough’ (D Winnicott) and stand up for her child. Obviously I am simplifying in this post, but this is the gist:  traumas and dysfunctional behaviours can be embedded in the psyche and transmitted through generations unless and until one seeks help/therapy in order to regain one’s own power!

There is only one way to achieve the awakening of our own Kundalini to experience your connection with the collective unconscious state quickly, which is through the meditation started by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, known as Sahaja Yoga.  If you would like to know more about this and experience it yourself then click here for details.
