Perfect Politics

Can we achieve it?

“It’s a very important thing today to understand that something has basically gone wrong in the working of our political systems and why the people have lost their sense of justice, fair play and the benevolence of the people. Where have we gone wrong that this is being lost?

..None of the politics which is today existing has any reality in it, whether it is capitalism or communism or anything. Because they have not yet found out the Real Laws. They have not yet found out the Power which governs the world.“

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi

These thoughts were expressed by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, the founder of the  spiritual and meditation practice of Sahaja Yoga, whose true mission in life was to enable the spiritual transformation of mankind.

Here the power referred to is not that used to rule over other citizens that is so intoxicating to many individuals who choose it as their goal in life. Some politicians can be liars, crooks, swindlers, cheats and deceivers but cultivate the image of being great leaders, statesmen and women, even heads of government. The top ranks of political power have not generally been attained due to merit, wisdom, morality, ethics or honesty, but due to the fact that most people do not want to get involved in politics, as it has been perceived and accepted as a ‘dirty’ business for centuries, leaving the way open for the unscrupulous to play games with peoples lives.

“The Power which governs the world” that Shri Mataji refers to, is an all-pervading energy through and by which, like ether, we live, move, think and exist.  Humans today cannot perceive of any other way of running the nations that have divided up this planet than ‘politics’ even though this practice has resulted in endless corruption, criminality, wars, invasions, domination and slavery.

The awakening and establishing of one’s spiritual energy through Sahaja Yoga meditation can lead to significant changes in a person’s view of life and their role in it. Extremes of belief and behaviour tend to drop away, leading to more balanced views, which, in politics, then lead to more benign and tolerant ways to govern: to serve rather than to dominate, to encourage rather than control, to create a prosperous society that benefits all, rather than a powerful few. So the “Power which governs the world” is not in fact created by humans, but is to be used by humans.

Democracies consist of opposing groups and opinions that cannot agree. Each group believes in their own ‘policies’, so where is the absolute truth of a topic? Where is the truth about, say, how best to run a railway? What taxes to impose?  Enlightened wisdom provides an answer embracing benefits to the public, costs, wages, work conditions, geographic impact, efficiency and investment without just focusing on one self-interest, such as work conditions, or what is best for management or best for customers.

In each country there are divisions in all kinds of views, which is fine, except that political ones can cause destructive upheaval. So if one country cannot govern itself in peace what hope that the planet, divided as it is into so many nations, can exist in harmony, peace and true co-operation?

If the existence of a Government of, and in, harmony is too difficult for Mankind to believe in, then maybe we should look at the other extreme; no ‘Government’ at all. This is perfectly possible in a society of enlightened human beings, who live without conflict or greed, in mutual respect and each ready to take some responsibility for their own actions and what they can do to help in the running of their community. Where there are differences of opinion and proposals, they will be settled with wisdom, and understanding and the common agreement of the ‘right’ solution. And what is that?

One of the most important phenomena of being connected to that energy referred to earlier, is that one can actually, physically feel the energy, the frequency, the vibrations that are emitted by everything around us, from other people to books. These ’vibrations’ flow from the truth inherent in all matter. After the awakening of the Kundalini through Sahaja Yoga, one is able to feel and identify such vibrations on one’s hands. For example, an object made from artificial material often emits hot vibrations. So one would avoid it. Whereas putting one’s attention on a similar object made out of natural material, will cause one to feel cool vibrations from it.

The same can be applied to decisions, plans, policies, individuals and places. What is more, after the awakening of the Kundalini energy, it has been generally found that everyone feels the same reaction on their hands when they focus on the particular issue in hand. Therefore, no need for arguments, opinions, opposing beliefs and the lateral thinking of the mind. We would all be wanting to move in the direction of what is good for the whole.

So, we are offering here a way to end the usual way that politics has always been conducted : relying on limited linear mental ideas that are based on people’s conditionings of nationality, environment, education and class. The solution proposed here is practical, verifiable and as real as the rays of the sun we all rely on for life.

“We talk of democracy, it leads to some sort of a mess of corruption. It is all money-oriented, while communism is power-oriented. But none of them are spirit-oriented. So the first truth about human beings is that they are not this body, not this mind, not these emotions, not this ego, but they are spirit.”
